About Us
The Southwest Iowa Amateur Radio Club (SWIARC) is a not for profit organization based in Council Bluffs, Iowa primarily serving the southwestern Iowa and southeastern Nebraska areas. SWIARC's mission is based on promoting the interest of Amateur Radio through various club sponsored activities including:
Education: The club provides various classes and presentations to its members and the general public about amateur radio. The club also holds VE testing sessions for license applicants.
Public Service: The club actively promotes public service by providing communications during public community events. SWAIRC participates in Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), the emergency commuications division of the Amatuer Radio Relay League (ARRL). The club works in cooperation with local and state agencies to provide emergency communications during various events including severe weather and disasters.
SWIARC also owns and operates the KØSWI FM VHF repeater system based in the Council Bluffs area. The system is open for use by all licensed amateur radio operators except during ARES and club nets.
Membership to the club is open to the public. Dues are $15 per calendar year for adults and $7 per calendar year for students. If you are interested in joining please see our membership page to complete an application for membership and directions on how to pay your dues.
